The Academic Choice program holds two general parent meetings each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The purpose of the general meetings are to inform parents and guardians of our existing academic programs and priorities for new programs, to elect members of the AC Advisory Council, and to solicit feedback from the AC community and answer questions.

AC Governance

AC's governance and decision-making structure is dictated by our bylaws. Download a copy of the AC bylaws.

Administrative Vice Principal

Academic Choice Shared Governance Council Representatives

The Shared Governance Committee deals with curriculum and operations issues, is primarily composed of staff plus three parents and students and, unlike SSC and BSEP, does not hold public meetings. AC Program Proposal

In the fall of 2004, the Academic Choice community created a team of administrators, teachers, parents, and students to produce a formal proposal whose purpose was to: articulate the clear vision, mission, and educational values of Academic Choice; to describe the expansion of Academic Choice to the ninth grade and the curricular pathways which define the Academic Choice program; and to explain the decision to remain a program rather than to become a small school. The AC Proposal was finalized in January 2005 and was approved by the Berkeley School Board in February 2005. Click here to download a copy of the 2005 Academic Choice Proposal.

In April 2006, the AC community presented the School Governance Council with a proposal to revise its ninth grade history curriculum for 2006-2007. Click here to download a copy of the 2006 AC Proposal to Revise the Ninth Grade AC History Curriculum.
